Healthcare encounter

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has launched a new mobile app – Question Builder – designed to help patients’ be more prepared and more engaged in their own healthcare. The Question Builder app is an initiative of AHRQ to improve patient safety and quality of care. An individual with a thorough understanding of their medical condition, has the knowledge to communicate with the clinical team and is more likely to comply with care and follow-up. According to AHRQ, “Patients and families who engage with health care providers ask good questions and help reduce the risk of errors and hospital admissions.”

Through a series of questions, an individual can prepare for an encounter —inpatient care, outpatient care, surgical care, medications, acute and long-term care — all facets of treatment.
